It’s extremely quiet on the reserve at the moment – and with only one unit in residence, there’s not much to report on I’m afraid except to say that a lion was heard calling very far away yesterday morning, from the flood plain direction. Joe also found spoor of lion, on top of elephant tracks, along the road near B30 yesterday. Talking of elephant, they are causing havoc with the water valve at B30, actually opening the valve causing major water loss. The Grey Lourie’s must think it’s Christmas at the moment with both the aloes and Knobthorn’s in flower. I watched these clumsy birds yesterday afternoon in our garden, right in the top of the trees, gorging themselves on the buds.
