What as glorious morning again today – crisp, sun shining – woodpeckers knocking against resonating tree trunks, hornbills pecking in the soil looking for tasty morsels, greyheaded bushshrike calling his mournful call and then the powerful roaring of a male lion, making the hairs on one’s arm prickle, right behind our house on camp road!! It’s a really “happy to live in Africa” day today. The lion called twice more and then it was silent – perhaps he’ll be around again this evening.
