News snippet 7 October 2012

Another scorcher of a day hit us yesterday – 40 degrees and boy oh boy did we feel it!! With the typically October weather (remember it’s suicide month in the bush when we endure temperatures beyond the imaginable) the Redchested Cuckoo’s have arrived and the sound of the males calling “Piet-my-vrou” can be heard all over. Very soon the Diederik Cuckoo will also be winging their way back to our thornveld area and then afterwards, hopefully, the rains will arrive. Can’t wait! To end this snippet, here’s wishing Joe a very happy birthday for today.
